Kington
Kington Church
After being killed in the battle of Banbury, Thomas Vaughan's spirit was allegedly trapped in a snuff box by the local holy men and banished into nearby Hergest Pool. Thomas "Black" Vaughan of Hergests ghost took the form of a fly in order to unsettle horses and disrupt farm wagons, and believed to have entered the church as a Hereford bull.
Hergest Court
Thomas Black Vaughan's ghost trapped in a snuffbox was said to be sunk under a great stone in the pool below Hergest Court. However, an accident released his spirit, roaming the borders in the shape of a ghastly black dog. It is argued Sir Arthur Conan Doyle based The Hound of the Baskervilles on that very legend, who is thought to have stayed at the Croft while researching the story.
Ledbury
Church Street
Ledbury, is named after the River Leadon which flows through the parish, is of no stranger to history and historical events. Any visitor to Ledbury will at first notice the array of black and white timbered buildings. One particular picturesque street is that of Church Street and Church Lane, which are both aptly named due to the huge spire of the parish church that overlooks them. At around 2am, a delivery was being made by two gentlemen. For no apparent non-paranormal reason, the wheelie-bin as they past it lid began to lift up and down making a loud banging noise. This happened several times and then proceeded to move. Was this a case of poltergeist phenomena?
